Day 1: Hue – A Luoi – Prao town
Our adventure begins on Day 1 as we travel from Hue to Aluoi to Prao, following the beautiful Highway 49 up to the top of Ma Oi Pass. Here, we take a break to enjoy a refreshing swim at Mau Waterfall and witness the handicraft sewing of the Van Kieu ethnic minority.
Afterward, we head to Aluoi town for lunch, where we savor the local cuisine and soak up the town’s ambiance. The remainder of the afternoon is spent on the legendary Ho Chi Minh Trail, which takes us on a scenic route through the mountains. Along the way, we stop at various ethnic minority villages to experience their unique way of life.
We spend our first night in the charming town of Prao. You’ll have ample free time to explore and discover the town’s hidden treasures.
Day 2: Prao Town to Hoi An (2 options)
Option 1: Prao – Hai Van Pass – Marble Mountain – Hoi An
After a filling breakfast, we embark on a scenic drive toward the bustling city of Da Nang.
Along the way, we make some exciting stops to soak in the breathtaking views of some of Vietnam’s most iconic natural landscapes.
Our first stop is at the magnificent Hai Van Pass, a winding mountain road that offers panoramic views of the vast ocean and lush green forests.
We then proceed to the picturesque China Beach, a beautiful stretch of sandy coastline that is popular with both locals and visitors alike. Here, you can take a refreshing dip in the crystal-clear waters or simply bask in the sun and enjoy the serene atmosphere.
Our next stop is at the awe-inspiring Marble Mountain, a series of five majestic peaks that are each named after the five elements of Oriental philosophy – metal, wood, water, fire, and earth. These peaks are not only home to several ancient temples and pagodas but also offer stunning views of the surrounding countryside.
We finally arrive in the charming town of Hoi An as the sun begins to set. You now have the rest of the evening to explore the town’s rich cultural heritage, ancient architecture, and vibrant markets. Take a stroll along the colorful streets, sample some delicious local delicacies, or simply immerse yourself in the town’s unique atmosphere. Hoi An is truly a magical place that you won’t want to miss!
Option 2: Prao – HCM trail to Thanh My town – My Son Sanctuary – Hoi An
We continue 52km to Thanh My on the Ho Chi Minh Trail. Then, we cross the river by local boat and ride along a village road to My Son holly land, which is a World Heritage site. Our next stop is My Son where we can explore the ruins and take many photos.
My Son Sanctuary is a UNESCO World Heritage site located in central Vietnam. It is a complex of abandoned and partially ruined Hindu temples constructed between the 4th and the 14th century AD by the Champa dynasty. The temples are dedicated to various Hindu deities and are notable for their unique architectural style and intricate carvings. The site is considered to be one of the most important archaeological sites in Vietnam.
Then we continue on to Hoi An where we finish the tour.
